Selection of Village Leaders
The leadership of the Dorbar Shnong Lawjynriew is selected through the traditional Dorbar system of the Khasi community. The Rangbah Shnong and committee members are elected or approved by the general assembly of shnong residents.
- Selection is conducted during a Dorbar meeting.
- Eligible shnong residents participate in decision making.
- Leaders are chosen based on trust, leadership ability and service to the community.
- The committee works collectively to manage village affairs.
Responsibilities of Dorbar Shnong
- Maintain peace and harmony in the village.
- Issue shnong certificates and documents.
- Coordinate community development activities.
- Preserve Khasi customs and traditions.
- Work with government departments for development schemes.
